North America's Leading Climate Change Portfolio

Helen La, BSc, MSc, EPt
Carbon Services Project Analyst

Helen joined Blue Source’s Calgary, AB office in 2011 and since that time has worked on a number of different greenhouse gas emission reduction projects, including electrification and acid gas injection for the upstream oil and gas industry. Helen holds a Bachelor of Environmental Science (Honours) with a specialization in environmental chemistry and a MSc in Civil and Environmental Engineering. In her M.Sc. graduate research, she studied the application of using supercritical (i.e. the state at which CO2 experiences properties that are intermittent between a gas and a liquid) carbon dioxide, which is commonly used in in-situ heavy oil recovery, for the simultaneous extraction and upgrading of bitumen from Alberta oil sands. Prior to joining Blue Source, Helen volunteered her time with local environmental groups such as the Sierra Club of Canada—Prairie Chapter, The Edmonton Naturalization Group and The Parkland Institute, and worked as an energy-efficiency representative promoting energy efficiency and personal carbon footprint reductions during local summer festivals and events. Helen is an Environmental Professional-In-Training registered with ECO Canada and has completed the CSA training course in using ISO 14064-2 to quantify greenhouse gas emissions reductions.
